The project stands out for the treatment of colour, shape and light, highlighted by the black Rockfon® VertiQ® Metal panels. The architect, Jean-Pascal Piquard, also a set designer and visual artist, used a lively and colourful palette for the stained glass windows and the lower walls of the gymnasium.
Rockfon® VertiQ® Metal, available in 3 different shades, was chosen in black for this project. This solution effectively meets initial acoustic requirements and is suitable for a sports area with high impact resistance (ball bounces, etc.). Also, this choice was made as a structural element of the aesthetic and plastic design of the project, the matt appearance of the acoustic panels thus highlighting the brightness and bright colors of the stained glass windows. The architect explains, “It’s not just the functional and realistic aspects of a project, it’s also a design that carries a bit of a dream.”
From the beginning of the project, Jean-Pascal Piquard wanted to install a real acoustic band under the stained glass windows around the room to reduce the sound reverberation while working an aesthetic touch thanks to the punctuation effect of the matt black panels. Thus, the black VertiQ Metal panels create this aesthetic effect and offers a real acoustic comfort.
The installation of the panels was carried out by Entreprise Lauer. The wall panels have been perfectly aligned and emphasize rhythmic and aesthetic punctuation
Since October 2021, students, teachers and local associations have benefited from a new gym that is both acoustically comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Thierry Rubin, professor of the Ping-Pong Club is delighted: “We are delighted with this new space for acoustic comfort, whether it is during classes or tournaments where there is also an audience. The space is very welcoming and bright, which is all the more pleasant”.
